Wall Climbing, Triumph!

I seriously think that I should write down Wall Climbing in my resume! Does it in any ways make me look like a hardworking man that will do and endure everything just to get to the top? Haha

I just wanted to personally thank Grace and Kay for giving me such an opportunity to be able to spread my wings and conquered my fear of height.

I do have to admit that I am not that scared of height anymore [(mind over matter) wahahaha ya right!] :D

Thanks for keep pushing and cheering me till I really reached the top. I almost gave up twice but Grace won't let me down, not until I really drag myself up that wall. Its really is a great sense of achievement once you tap your hand against the top wall. It's like you're finally conquering yourself for the first time.

Despite all the smells of shoes that you get from climbing, and muscles pain, and six packs that you thought suddenly came out of no where, I would love to go for another climb next time.

I'm seriously thinking about buying the shoes and finding a way to go there every weekend. Transportation is hard! Oh well, maybe I'll just do some push up of my own first (KONON LAH!) and when I have the chance then only I go there to be cocky again.

Haha, yes! I am very cocky after my first time reaching the top. As if I own the world :O

Hopefully I get to see all of you climbers again next time :D Thanks again Grace and Kay Kastum!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

State Of The Arts (SOTA) KL

Dear visitor of room8five:

I have a statement to make and that is "SOTA ROCKS!"

It's a day filled with insights, curiosity and above all - talents. Finally Malaysian is being exposed to what many has been despise for so many years, and only now truly realize the true colors of creativity and arts.

The event started off with some of the well known Malaysian celebrities sharing their experience and knowledge about the entertainment industry in the country and what it really takes to make in Malaysia - not just for the money but most importantly for the expression of our true passion for creativity and arts.

Paul Moss (Media Prima's GM, OIAM's judge), Daphne Iking (actor, host), Audio Mok (producer, song writer), Niki Cheong (blogger, journalist) and the only guy who gets the standing ovation from the crowd, the one and only Harith Iskandar (comedian, director). They are all an amazing speaker and one of the thing that they have in common in their message for SOTA, is to follow your dream and let not others stop you from achieving it

No one understand more about your own talents than you yourself. If you have it then use it for a greater purpose. Along the way, yes someone will be a road block for you, but never let those road block stop you from becoming who you really are and what you really wanted to become.

Nothing happened by chances, you need to create your own 'luck' and you need to be smart enough to be 'lucky'. -Niki Cheong-

It was truly an awesome event that filled with laughter, especially with Daphne Iking and Harith Iskandar taking the stage. These people are being true to themselves, they are what they are on stage without putting on a mask. The truth is always the best comedy you can come up with and they did just that.

Later at the evening session they were having the 'State of Talents' competition where youngster will battle it out on stage to perform and to present the talents that they have to win the grand prize money of RM1500 cash.

It turns out to be more than just a battle, it was indeed a blast of creativity and talents on stage. The crowd was mesmerize and in awe when the contestant went on stage one by one. It was a remarkable showcase of talents from singing to dancing, poetry reading, musical instrument, skills and magic.

Malaysian got talents! -Vincent-

The competition was won by a 12 year old boy who perform an outstanding skills with his Chinese Yo-yo. The crowd goes wild when he executed his final move, where he spin and let the yo-yo to hang in mid-air without any strings attached and then snatch it back with his string just in time before the yo-yo could hit the ground. Its like seeing a flying saucer suddenly being snatch away in mid-air. Awesomeness.

All in all SOTA is indeed a great success, though there are still rooms for improvement but the main agenda for the event is greatly achieved this time. Everyone, especially Malaysian should realize that creativity, arts and talents is not meant to be a disgrace or despise for anyone. Its a true expression of who we really are, and it plays a great role in our life especially for the young people.

A person with talent should be allowed to spread their wings and fly accordingly to where their creativity brings them. Do not alter them or you will have a disfigured and non-functional person. Nurture their talents and they will in turn become some one great in life.

PS: I'm sorry for being unable to include pictures from SOTA. I will try to find the pictures from everywhere and post it for everyone to see what actually happened in SOTA KL.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

I'm a Superstar... Sorta

Dear mom and dad:

Finally, I'm officially in Youtube! Haha, it was one of my dream to be able to act in a video and post it in Youtube (it was one of those hidden desire that I have). Thank you Eldy and Sheyvin for the given opportunity to act in your video.

They were doing a video to join the State Of The Arts video competition and they asked me and Pierre to help out. I'm like 'WHY NOT?!'. Haha. I am super happy though I felt that I can do better but I can foresee that there will be more videos to come :D

Its always great to have creative and talented friends around. I used to have a lot of creative things that I wanted to do, but somehow I always feel unmotivated to carry out those thoughts into actions.

After making this video, I felt that perhaps now is the right time to fulfill some of those things that I always wanted to do since last time.

I'm going to make sure Eldy will be busy when he's holiday arrived. Haha. Well fellow blogger friends, please do watch the video, rate and comment. I am open to any positive criticism, ideas and suggestion to help improve my acting in the future, haha. American Idol style!

I also attached a few pictures from the second day of our shooting :D Enjoy all.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

7 Step to SUCCESS

In order to be success, one of thing that you must have within you is - FAITH. Faith is believing in something which can't be seen. You want a brand new car, a bigger house, a better job or a soul mate, then you need to be able to see them imaginatively and believe that it will be yours.

Now faith is a fact but it is also an act. Faith without action is dead, therefore just having the things that you want in your thoughts alone is not enough, you must work in order to earn it.

Here is 7 step of how to build up faith in you.

#01. Desire It
In order first to have faith in you, you must have a desire for something. You must have something that you want in life that you wanted to accomplish, you wanted to achieve, that you wanted to own. Materially, physically, pleasure, luxury, spiritually and so on.

You must first have a target.

#02. Decide It
You need to know exactly what you really want. Focus is power, don't be double minded. Decide on the most important thing that you currently desire and work toward that ONE THING only, till you achieve it then only you move on to the next thing.

Take things one at a time, if you rush you lose.

#03. Ask It
Like a little child that wanted to buy a toy but refuse by the parents, the child will keep on asking, and eventually it will start to cry and STILL keep on asking the parents to buy the toy. Most of the time, parents will give into the child and buy the toy that the child had been keep asking about.

Do not give up. If you failed, get up and get going again. Keep on pursuing for the thing that you desire until you get it. Keep on asking for it!

#04. Receive It
You need to be able to believe that you already get the thing that you desire before you even really gets it. That is faith. If you failed to see yourself achieving what you are pursuing for, then your journey won't be able to last long, because in you mind you have already failed to believe that you can do it, that you can actually get it.

You must own/achieve it in your mind first then only you can really own/achieved it in reality.

#05. See It
Now you don't need to invite negative thoughts into you mind because it always come without invitation. You will go where the train of thoughts bring you. Thats why you need to change you view and use you power of imagination to see the positive side and work only with that positive thought. Do not let doubt gets to you.

Imagination is your creative muscle and it will forms reality

#06. Say It
If you have something that you want, you need to be able to announce it, to say it out loud. Its an action that indicates that you really desire for that thing. If you can't tell people what exactly is it that you want then faith can not work with you in order to achieve something which is not there.

If you want something then you need to be able to say it!

#07. Act It
Most of the time, taking action is the most hardest part for everyone of us. When you already able to do all the above, then you already win half of the journey. In order to win the other half of the journey, you need to take action and run toward the direction that you already have in mind. One small step, is actually a huge step in building faith.

Act upon your faith and you will be successful. You will be able to achieve your goal. Most importantly you are able to build faith within you which will help you not just in one thing but also in many areas of your life.

I hope this 7 step could help inspire all of you to have a better life. Either its your study, job, family, religion, friends or financial, I believe faith could be applied in every aspect of your life and it could help to produce better result.

Thank you Dr. Phil Pringle for sharing the 7 step with us, and I hope all of you can be bless as much as I did when he shared it with us. This one is specially for you Kev =)

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Paramore's First Ever Concert in Malaysia!

by Daniel Chiam

I thought I was early and yet hundreds was already there waiting in line, waiting to be allowed to enter the stadium, waiting patiently to get a good look of their favorite rock band - Paramore.

We all waited in line for hours. I can even feel my sweat all over myself already. This is too far behind. I need a good seat, I had to get to the front and which I did. I got myself the best seat that's available and like thousand of fans there, I waited patiently.

I see people are squeezing each other near the stage just to get close enough to the front. Banners with the band's name. DSLRs, fans t-shirt and most importantly the rock chicks. Over 8000 people was there that night.

"Paramore! Paramore! Paramore!" everyone shouted when the nerves gets to them. As time is almost near, so does the fans' patience. Well, long story short, haha, the crowd goes wild when they saw Paramore coming out of the MPVs.

The stage when dark and when the first string of guitar is being stroked, flashes of orange light can be seen. The stage was being covered with a white curtain and you can see shadows of figures from the flashes of light. Everyone was screaming so loud, cause they know the shadows belong to the person who they have long waited for.

As the band goes into the main intro and the volume is being tuned up, the curtain fall and there they are, the rock band of the year - Paramore! Hayley with her burning hot red hair, Jeremy, Josh, Zac and Taylor performing the song 'Careful' as their opening act.

I really think we have the best crowd ever. Its like a choir performances. Everyone knows all the lyrics to all the songs and everyone just sing for non-stop through out the whole concert. Awesomeness! We jump, we shout, we clapped and I even do a head bang for 'Misery Business'

I'm really happy that they perform a lot of song from their previous album. 'Crushcrushcrush', 'Pressure', 'That's What You Get', 'Born For This', 'For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic', cause I kept listening to The Final Riot! album, which I'm able to memorize most of the song and is able to sing along with the rest of the crowd. It's just feel so good to be able to be apart of the performances, haha.

Songs from the album 'The Brand New Eyes' really puts a high on everyone. It's really a kick of adrenalin to sing along to the song 'Ignorance', 'Decode', 'The Only Exception', 'Playing God', 'Brick By Boring Brick', 'Misguided Ghost', 'Looking Up' - its an epic feeling that I will never forget.

I love seeing how the people are just happy because they are there. High five to each other when a song they loved is being perform. Hugging each other as if Malaysia just won the World Cup. Couple cuddle each other when its slow jams. The waving, the shouting, the screaming 'Hayley I love you!!!!'. That moment is really priceless.

Hayley is awesome. She can really dance and head bang! Josh and Jeremy even perform an acrobatic act during the performance, it was super cool! Super rock & roll! I am truly overwhelm by their performance. My favorite is of course 'Misery Business' as the closing act.

A lucky hulk-like fellow was been invited to the stage to help end the show with the last song. The first thing that he said was 'Hayley I really really love you', took out his phone and take a self picture with Hayley and himself! I AM SERIOUSLY ENVY OF THAT PART!

I am satisfied with Paramore's performances. They are truly awesome and I am super glad that I am there that night. I just wish that I was in the front standing near the stage, and they choose me to go up the stage, and I would be the one saying 'Hayley I want to marry you' and take out my phone and take a picture with her and then I'll give her a bear hug, hahaha.

Oh gosh, it was one hell of a night. I hope I get to save up some money for the next rock concert in Malaysia. I wanted to go for Bon Jovi! Thank God for Paramore and the opportunity to see hot girls from all around KL gather at one place with tank top and short shorts, haha.

To My Lil' Cousin, Wendy

Dear Wendy:

I know that you are still too young to read and to understand what I'm writing about, but the main thing is for you to know how much I love you.

I enjoyed spending my time with you. Teaching you stuff. Doing silly things just to watch you smile and laugh. I love it when we just sit there together and watch Disney's cartoon. You have grown so much since the last time I met you ^^

I still remember back then when you first started to learn to talk and kept calling me 'Uuuu Uuuu', haha and how we both always try to do the Pocoyo's run and dance move. How I have to do everything to stop you from crying when you saw your mom and dad is going out for work. I know, I hate goodbyes too.

Now you're starting to call me 'Kor kor Uuu Uuu', haha, sometimes I had to take my time to try and understand what are you trying to tell me, then most of that time your facial expression is priceless.

**'Kor kor' means big brother in Hakka.

I always wonder what are you going to be when you grow up. There's so much possibilities out there and just like your parents, I wanted the best for you. I don't want you to waste your life by taking the easy way out. I want you to be a bold person that's not afraid to explore all the possibilities that this world has to offer.

Be adventurous like your mom. Never afraid to take chances but at the same time she's very wise in making the right decision. Have fun! Yes, learn to have fun. Life is really too short to be depress about everything.

Oh gosh I have so much thoughts about you Wendy. Just like a parents would have for their children, and sometimes we would just wish that you'll forever be the way you are now, and never grow up. Just be the little naive and adorable you. Just let us love you and play with you everyday.

Kor kor can't visit you this week ^^ but I'll be sure to be there for your birthday next week. I love you Wendy and kor kor really love babysitting you! =)

Take care now.

Until the next mail, bye for now =)

Back in KL

Dear Kevin:

Finally after all the long talk, I am now in KL. I am at Sunway to be exact. I got a job with an European supplier for construction company called Hilti. Its a part time job that pays really well if compared to all the job that I've done before. RM7 per hour.

Well for the time being, I will be doing data entry for the marketing department and not phone calls like I was expected to. Its a really easy job but I hate decyphering handwriting! If only there was a course that teach you how to write properly on papers.

I'm planning to get an extra part time job around Sunway Pyramid. Plane ticket cost me a lot to come here, and thats another story to be tell next time. Perhaps something on the night shift and during weekends. Cinema is my main target, cause I want to have that benefit of being able to watch movie for free, haha.

Oh yes! Iphone 4! I get the chance to actually hold it in my hand, trying out the features and all, and I SUPER LOVE IT. Haha, once I hold it, its already as if I own one before. I am very familiar with iPhone without even having one before :P

The camera is awesome. Fast and clearer than crystal clear! 5 megapixel of awesomeness! Tap to focus, zooming, front camera, flash and to me, iPhone has reached a real satisfaction in its cameras. Its like carrying a digital camera with you everywhere, and ready to snap at anytime. Most importantly, the quality is magnifico!

I even tried to record video and it is in HD! Didn't get the chance to tried the movie maker application yet, but I heard its something that a person MUST try. Awesome sound system, and undenyably that its like having an iPod touch with you around.

I am seriously determine to get an iPhone 4. Might get a DiGi package because of its lower monthly payment compared to Maxis. When will I get it? The initial plan was on the 20102010 but since I used of most of my money on plane ticket, I might have to reconsider another date.

All in all this week is actually the most rushing week for me. Everything was done in last minute. Asking for a job in the morning, by afternoon the job was confirm, bought ticket at 3PM, saying goodbye to friends, tell the whole thing to mom and dad, cried, woke up late in the morning, rush for haircut, rush for bus, reached KK and spend some time with my brother, spend time with friends, miss flight, bought new ticket, sleeping throughout the flight, reach LCCT, take bus to KL Sentral, the bus is taking a different route than the last time I was here, reached and I was being pick up by my aunt. Start working tomorrow!

I guess thats all for now :D

Until the next mail, bye for now =)

Yours truly:

October is Tomorrow!

My initial post was too depressing. I can't even finish the whole thing. I was crying like a baby as I go along. It was a departing letter that I wrote to my parents. Yes finally I am leaving Sabah again, and this time its for real and not just talk the talk only.

It was so last minute, and I don't think both of my parents have the time to digest it yet. They look super calm to me and I was the one that couldn't hold my tears. I love my parents, very much. Growing up as Daniel Chiam, life can be very lonely almost every time. My family is all I have.

Enough about making myself look bad! I'll post the mail soon once I get the chance to finish it. As for the moment lets enjoy some beautiful pictures! Haha its a treat for the guys.

October will somehow remind me about the German's Oktoberfest! Booze booze and more booze. I think thats the only common culture between the Germans and the Sabahan, haha.

So for the occasion we will have Miss Kim Kardashian to parade with some Oktoberfest outfit!
