Kalamazoo Cafe @ Aman Suria, Petaling Jaya

by Daniel Chiam

We had our new year's eve dinner at Kalamazoo Cafe - an American diner, and it was our first time there. It has a nice ambiance to chill and enjoy a great meal. Great atmosphere and the people there amazingly friendly too :D

I really like the peanut butter chocolate milkshake! It's a must try because it's awesome! The foods are amazingly delicious, and worth the money that you are paying for. I definitely want to come back for some K'Zoo-liciousness... Haha!

Double Cheeseburger - served with fries;
bread and patty are both made in-house

Pineapple Chutney Pork Burger - served with fries;
the pineapple chutney, patties, and bun are all made in-house. I LOVE THE FRIES!

K’zoo Style Tender Pork Ribs -  fried, baked and broiled till it falls off the bone

 Pesto Cheesy Chicken - for pesto and cheese lovers

Grilled Lamb Shoulder - with apple slaw and mint sauce;
the slaw is drizzled with blackcurrant dressing and mint sauce is made in-house

Alex's Beef Meatloaf - served with garlic smashed potatoes and bread;
boiled and hand mashed potatoes while bread is baked in-house

New Year's eve special: Bacon Wrapped Pork-loaf

Oven Bake Pork Loin

I've actually emailed them because I was unable to recall some of the name for the dish and I also asked for some other recommended dish. They are kind enough to reply me back the soonest, and here's what you can look forward to in their new menu :D
We will be coming up with a new menu soon with new additions such as the Tex-Mex Pork Chop which is a smoky, slightly spicy must try and also Meatballs & Gravy which we do on our own and deep fry before pouring on the gravy so its crispy crunchy on the outside while soft, flavorful and moist on the inside. In the meantime, we also have Walk of Life which is a triple decker burger with pork, chicken and beef patties resting on slices of cheese.

Happy New Year 2012 (again!)

[Movie Review] We Bought a Zoo (2011)

Heart warming 7/10

I watched the movie with zero expectation and surprisingly, I like it a lot. The whole emotional journey of the story is well written and it managed to capture the true essence of the story that it wants to tell to the audience.

I would really suggest this based on a true story, comedy-drama film for a family movie. It will help strengthen the bonding with each family members. Great performance by Matt Damon. Scarlett Johansson is just ever so pretty :D
I am overrating this film a bit, but on a subjective level I just really loved it. The movie had a few cliche trappings, but surprisingly avoided many as well. The story had more emotional depth than most family films ever do, the humor was well timed and not too silly, and all of the characters had a part to play that felt natural and furthered the story. It was just great to watch a clean family film with my family with solid acting and a fun story.

Blonde, Brains, and Rich - Ivanka Trump

That's Ivanka Trump's first ever cover for a magazine back in 1997. She has come a long way ever since then and I really like her a lot. Not just the fact that she's blonde and pretty but mainly because she's also smart.

I first get to know her through the TV show The Apprentice, which is a series hosted by her dad - Donald Trump. By the way, I really love that show, haha. Through the show, I can really see that she's not just a spoiled rich brat, who rises to the top just because of the rich dad.

Ivanka is to said that she represent most of her dad in character wise. Intelligently smart, out spoken and a person of character/principal.

Communications before Feelings

by Daniel Chiam

In my first part of the series - Friends First and Not Target, we end the subject with go and make friends first. Now guys, it is important for you to understand that our goal here (or at least my goal) is for a long term relationship. The one that can end in marriage, kids, grandchildren and till death do us apart.

The thing about wanting to have a good long term relationship, is that you must willing to invest in time, effort and patience. Good relationship doesn't happened overnight. You must build it up from ground zero.

Communications is the main material to build a good and strong foundation. At the friend stage, you are being given a comfort zone to initiate conversation whenever you want. Good evening, how was your day so far? Hey remember about the event that I told you about last time? Yada yada yada... you get the point.

Get comfortable as friend and get to know as much as possible about each other. Don't jump into conclusion too quick and start assuming things. Assumption always make things worse. Remember, building good relationship takes a lot of time. Learn to give chances to discover about each other; basically do some activities together.

Now the most common mistakes at the early stage of this level is when the feeling starts to intervene, and we start to entertain that feeling. We have the urge or a sudden confident that we are ready to take it to the next level. We starts to ignore the fact of how little we know about each other, how comfortable we are around each other and the compatibility of our purpose in life. That feeling is called - infatuation.

It happened sometimes and it's important that you understand what that feeling were, instead of beating down yourself so hard when you are being rejected. Not everyone will fail, but whats the percentage of success when you try to rush things?

All I'm trying to say is, don't rush. Take your time and build that bridges among friends. Communicate with them and see if you can get along in every situation. As friend you get to learn how to deal with each other, witness the good and the bad about each other and most importantly it helps you to discover is she's the right one for you. Once you get to know your circle of friends, then only you start highlighting your potential target.

If you have a problem talking to a girl, then I suggest you learn how - NOW.
