Movie Review: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Mind-boggling 8/10

This is one of the best romantic fantasy film that I have seen, that uses science fiction and psychological thriller story telling. Simply the best story line and best acting by the cast!

If you haven't seen this one, then you should go get it now!

It's one of the most brilliant and genius story that people can come out with. I don't even know how to write this without spoiling anything about the movie itself. It has a lot of twist and turn in the movie and yet you won't really get lost in it. Its just smart!

Each moment and scene in the movie brings a warmth and sentimental value that really captures your heart. It's not just a made up story that you can't relate to. It has a personal touch to it, and things that you can really relate to.

Not the easiest movie name to remember. Great story telling. Mind boggling at first, but an experience like non other. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet's chemistry and performance was just breathtaking.

Overall it is a must watch film. It's not just a great movie to watch, but it's also come with a great message that will makes you ponder of what you wish for in a romance, in a relationship.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: In Time (2011)

Intriguers the Mind  4/10

"Don't waste my time" is one of the tag line in the movie, hehe. Only 2 things that really attract me about the movie. One, the whole idea and concept of the movie. Second, Amanda Seyfried. Other than that, there's really nothing much to be impress about.

Messy and half-formed, but a pleasing throwback to an era in which ideas powered movies more than special effects, In Time provides a steady flow of lively entertainment due to its brain-tickling central conceit.
-Brent Simon-

Overall, it is enjoyable and mostly mind-boggling. The actions, the romance, Amanda Seyfried, Amanda Seyfried and more Amanda Seyfried. It could have been better, really...

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Movie Review: Easy A (2010)

Teenagiously Funny 8/10

Where was I when the movie was released last year? This is truly an amazingly smartly constructed script writing and story telling film. It's darn nice! Love it! Love it! Love Emma Stone here!

I really salute Bert V. Royal for writing such an amazing film. The dialogues was all so brilliantly arrange and it was perfectly well balance between humor and the true emotions of the message. I really feel smart after watching this movie.

Oh gosh, if you haven't watch this, it is highly recommended to watch. One of the best and none idiotic teen comedy ever.

Marianne: There's a higher power that will judge you for your indecency.
Olive Penderghast: Tom Cruise?

AHAHAHAHAHA!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

[Movie Review] The Three Musketeers (2011)

One for All 5/10

If you are familiar with the story by Alexandre Dumas, then the movie will be a lil' bit of a love hate relationship for you. It's a bit off from the original story line but in term of the film itself, it does brings a fresh breathe to a story that's age more than 100 years old.

Be reminded that this is only part one of the series, and so far it is okay for me. The movie is a steampunk-influence reinterpretation of the novel and there's few elements that you get to see in the movie that doesn't exist in the novel.

Overall it is still a great fantasy adventure movie to enjoy. Its going to be a lil' bit loose here and there if you are not familiar with the novel, especially with the characters build but I will still recommend my friends to watch the movie :D

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

[Movie Review] Nasi Lemak 2.0 (2011)

Awesome Malaysia 5/10

After all the hurrah by my friends and my strong inner desire to watch the movie, finally I'm able to catch the movie last week and it was full house all the way!

I have to give all the credits for Namewee's passion to come out with the film. Tho it's a low budget film but the quality and the essence of the film is truly amazing.

It was a slow build up at the beginning but after that it was all fun and funny to watch. I like the all star cast members who is willingly to help out with the film. They really do bring out the spices and the colors of the message that the movie is trying to tell.

All in all, it's one of the best local movie that I have seen. Looking forward to more of Namewee's work on the silver screen in the future and hopefully better!

By the way, the Melaka trip in the movie is my favorite part! What about yours?

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

[Movie Review] Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

Epic final battle! 5/10

Just as I predicted, focus less on the human side and focus more on the robots side! The beginning part for me is just too much talking, but it was all needed to build up the story to leads everything into the second part. It's comical, funny and a lot of work is being done in order to explain the non-existent of Megan Fox.

Rosie, you're a darling but sadly the characters build for this movie is not as impressive as I thought it would be, maybe perhaps Bay thought that everyone is already familiar with all the characters after 2 movies. Yes for recurring cast and no for the new one.

Now, the end part is the most epic part! This is where I truly felt that Transformer is not just a kid show anymore. If the robots was to be replace with humans, Dark of the Moon will be one of the goriest movie for 2011.

The actions, the fight scene, the aliens, it was all truly awesomeness to the max! I don't think Transformer can get anymore hardcore than this. The flying body parts, the no mercy kills, the gigantic robots - it was all EPIC~NESS!

Bay do what he does best with the close up, the slow mo, and yes also with the hot chicks pose - cinematography at its level best! Story line was good, a few twist here and there tho some is predictable but still it was acceptable.

My advice is, be really really really amaze with the actions, effects and the robots. The rest, well... just enjoy the show. I would give 8/10 solely because of the 2nd half of the show only. Where the epic final battle begin! The rest of it... naaaahhh.

[Movie Review] X-Men: First Class (2011)

X-ceptional! 8/10

If you are not a fan of X-Men yet, and you have been listening or have being seeing fragments of every little bit of movies that's related to X-Men, then I strongly believe that after watching this prequel of the first X-Men movie, you will run to the sign up booth and registered yourself as a fan of the X-Men series.

This is by far one of the best prequel that has ever been made for movie series. It's really core to the core and origin of the origin of the story. This is the movie that made you go "Oh... that's how it happened!" (provided if you have never watch this part of the story in comic or the cartoon on tv before).

The story line is just brilliant and exceptionally well arrange. There was not a dull moment for you to sigh but even more frames per second for you to be amazed and to be in awe. This is truly the best X-Men series yet so far.

All in all, the actions is there, characters build is there, story line - fantastic, and its an overall close to perfect score for a movie of its own kind. It will worth every penny of your cents to watch it in the cinema. On a last note, you'll get to know why Mystique feels blue all the time, haha (lame joke).

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

[Movie Review] Rio (2011)

by Daniel Chiam

Originally Funny 7.5/10

At first I was reluctant to watch this movie but after watching it, I can say I am far off from being regret.

The story was predictable but how does the story goes is really the actual fun and colorful part. The whole animation is just colorful to watch, in many ways it does cheer you up!

I love all the original jokes in the movie, seriously it will make you LAUGH OUT LOUD! The combination of Will.I.Am and Jamie Foxx is the most awesomeness, and you can't stop laughing every time the duo showed up.

A lot of epic moment in the movie, its not memorable but its sure is laughable. All in all, Rio is a chillax movie with great laughter to just hangout with your fiends.

[Movie Review] Limitless (2011)

by Daniel Chiam

Am on High 6/10

This movie is anything but logic and logic is dull. Neil Burger has every right to make the visual effect with such ecstatic flair. It's fresh and it brings out the best element for the movie.

It's not an epic movie but it's good enough to get you high and imagine what can you really do if you are able to get a 100% access to your brain.

Great performance by Bradley Cooper. You can really see the protagonist's transition from the beginning until the very end of the movie and Cooper is such a charmer. Then there's the legendary Robert De Niro, which he's presence itself already bring such a huge impression in the movie.

All in all, this sci-fi fantasy movie brings out the question if the possibility for such event to take place and what would one really do about it. Its fun to watch and it just wants to make you get high, haha.

[Movie Review] Just Go With It (2011)

by Daniel Chiam

Watchable 4/10

A romantic comedy which sets quite a predictable story line. Aniston and Sandler is pretty much comfortable in what they do best, and the movie is just like a walk in the park for them with not too much effort to try and make the movie really funny.

There was moment here and there that make you genuinely laugh, and you can't deny that the presence of Nicole Kidman does bring additional spice to the movie. It's been awhile since you last see the silly funny side of her in any movie.

Overall, its a typical Adam Sandler's movie. Great cast, great acting but it's always come short in delivering out the best of the movie as a whole, and when it involved kids, you'll see family value in there somewhere.

Not a movie to be wowed, but good enough to fill in a Saturday's night slot for a chillax moment with a little laughter and mushy feeling for the day.
