Kalamazoo Cafe @ Aman Suria, Petaling Jaya

by Daniel Chiam

We had our new year's eve dinner at Kalamazoo Cafe - an American diner, and it was our first time there. It has a nice ambiance to chill and enjoy a great meal. Great atmosphere and the people there amazingly friendly too :D

I really like the peanut butter chocolate milkshake! It's a must try because it's awesome! The foods are amazingly delicious, and worth the money that you are paying for. I definitely want to come back for some K'Zoo-liciousness... Haha!

Double Cheeseburger - served with fries;
bread and patty are both made in-house

Pineapple Chutney Pork Burger - served with fries;
the pineapple chutney, patties, and bun are all made in-house. I LOVE THE FRIES!

K’zoo Style Tender Pork Ribs -  fried, baked and broiled till it falls off the bone

 Pesto Cheesy Chicken - for pesto and cheese lovers

Grilled Lamb Shoulder - with apple slaw and mint sauce;
the slaw is drizzled with blackcurrant dressing and mint sauce is made in-house

Alex's Beef Meatloaf - served with garlic smashed potatoes and bread;
boiled and hand mashed potatoes while bread is baked in-house

New Year's eve special: Bacon Wrapped Pork-loaf

Oven Bake Pork Loin

I've actually emailed them because I was unable to recall some of the name for the dish and I also asked for some other recommended dish. They are kind enough to reply me back the soonest, and here's what you can look forward to in their new menu :D
We will be coming up with a new menu soon with new additions such as the Tex-Mex Pork Chop which is a smoky, slightly spicy must try and also Meatballs & Gravy which we do on our own and deep fry before pouring on the gravy so its crispy crunchy on the outside while soft, flavorful and moist on the inside. In the meantime, we also have Walk of Life which is a triple decker burger with pork, chicken and beef patties resting on slices of cheese.

Happy New Year 2012 (again!)

Meeples - European Board Game Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya

I know I seldom travel, and I don't have a lot of places to introduce or to recommend in room8five, but this one, I just have to let you all know about it!

Meeples is the name of the shop. Different kind of fun is what they offer. Forget about the old snakes and ladders, monopoly and chess! They have hundreds (maybe even thousands) of board games for you to try out and to fall in love!

You will get to actually interact among players, tickle your brains a lil' bit and some games are just there for plain old fun and lots of laughter. There was never once I visited the place and it was as quiet as the library. People are just there to have pure funnest!

My verdict - Meeples is absolutely the best place to be if you are looking for a real good time with family and friends. Spend that quality time with them over a game, and see them talk and laugh. It's truly is a best place for bonding in today's city life.

The Settlers of Catan - My utmost favorite game!

Expensive Informations

Most of you are very familiar with Lok Lok, a steamboat meal on wheels. I would never purposely went to Lok Lok just to eat, because its darn expensive and not worth the money... not until yesterday night. Yes I broke my own rule and I ate. Let's do more workout!

I was just emotional, sick, lonely and hungry. Staying inside the room alone with nothing to do is just so depressing. So I went out to take a fresh air and decided to eat Lok Lok that has been ages parked nearby my condo and I have never once visited it.

Being the normal me, I am very approachable, easy to talk with and basically I'm just friendly. I ended up chatting with the guy who is taking care of the Lok Lok. Apparently he's also from Sabah, has been here for almost 8 years now, an ACCA graduate and is getting married next year.

Only through our conversation, I get to know that this Lok Lok business is actually a product, a franchise and those people that drive around the vehicle are only the sales person. Lok Lok is an organization, and all this while I thought its an individual business.

According to the guy, their basic salary for a day is RM10 but their monthly income plus commission can reach up to RM7K - RM10K plus! The money is tempting, and with my current situation I do feel like becoming a Lok Lok sales person. Then again, I really don't see myself as one. Nothing  is wrong with the occupation, but it's just not me!

Until next time, see you around my friend =)

Restoran Murni @ Dataran Mentari, Bandar Sunway

My boss treat us lunch last week and I'm really grateful for that. He has always been generous ever since the first day he joined the company. Well in fact, both of my boss is also very generous and me, I am a very happy worker, haha.

Maryland Fried Rice

Special Fried Rice

Fried Kuey Teow

Fried Noodle

Mango Juice Special served in a bottle.

Murni's foods and drinks has always been legendary ever since my first visit to Murni in SS2, where it is first originated (correct me if I'm wrong). Sadly I don't really like how the one in Mentari operates.

The foods was cold when it reached our table, even the chicken chop in my Maryland fried rice taste something like a pre-cook fried chicken that's just came out from a fridge.

No offence, maybe it was lunch hour where demands are just too much to handle by them, and everything had to be prepared earlier just to make sure everyone gets their food on time. I tried their foods before, off lunch hour and it was good.

To me Murni still offers good foods, big portions and it comes with a price, haha.

Until next time, see you around my friend =)
